Job Hunters beware

The more I read the more I become convinced that the job market is being taken over by the new style or new branch of HR departments, no longer are they simply a Human Resources Department, or even an independent company that sell’s HR services, they have transformed themselves into a new evil the Professional Recruiter or Resume reviewer.

These are the people, who not knowing a thing about the position that needs to be filled, or having no interest in knowing anything about the applicants will thumb through endless resumes hoping that something will catch their eye and make them say, wow this is the one.

If they expect to get quality employees using this manner of vetting then they are going to be ‘sh-t out of luck’. The problems with finding a job are the same problems companies have in filling a position with the right person, everyone has been hoodwinked into believing this new method works.

Until we return to the tried and tested method of looking for people with the right skill sets, not a wish list full of them and posting positions with the actual skills needed instead of posting a long wish list full of things we’d like our next employee to have, we will be stuck in the short term position filling for jobs that not more than 15 years ago were long term positions with loyal employees.

It’s true companies don’t care if your struggling to make your car payment, or your house payment, they just want a bigger bottom line the problem is they are blinded by the ‘quick buck’ mentality with no goals of their own, yet they expect employees to produce goals to generate the ‘quick buck’.

For my next resume I intend to try a new style of blunt and to the point, because utilizing everything resume writers tell you is doing nothing, why, because they are the ones reviewing resumes.

Not In Plain Sight ….

I couldn’t help but scour the internet for at least a glimpse of someone somewhere telling me that a time machine would be in use to enable the USA to duplicate the game of 1950. Well it turns out it was “In Plain Sight”, no not the TV show on the USA Network, although I must say I do enjoy that, mostly because of Mary’s attitude, but I refer to the need for American media to drum up as much hype as possible to allow advertisers to get there monies worth. It wasn’t the 1950 game ABC chose to highlight, but further back to 1876…

….. having done my research, by scouring the internet, it was “In Plain Sight” that the majority of people commenting on the stories that came after the game on USA websites are nothing more than American fans of other sports, since they chose to condemn the World Cup and the sport, laying claim that the NFL was the true football. (that would take more than a moment to explain how wrong that is).

Although most, if not all the stories on these American websites are very one sided. Some even lay claim to being written by English reporters who are ashamed to be English. The stories on the English websites were not quite as glamorous, although they still didn’t see eye to eye with the American media’s views.

First of all let me correct somethings that were again “In Plain Sight” leading up to the match, the media on both sides of the Ocean were being, the same as they are everyday when a national sporting event is due to take place, very patriotic to the country for which they survive on as a business and in full support of the team that was due to represent that country.

It comes down to this, the game was a 1-1 draw, of which a lot of Americans hate, because they do not understand sports that can end without a winner, don’t shoot the messenger, I am just relaying what I have read in the comments of many stories on this game.

The American media seem to see the outcome of this game as a victory, they still attempt to portray events that put England in a bad light, I could go through the game play by play and blow by blow and pull out the numerous shirt pulls, the pushes the holding that the American players did to prevent English players from playing the game, even the blatant ‘handball’ committed that could have lead to a second England goal, and had the roles been reversed, we would be seeing replays of it over and over again.

It seems that even though this game was “In Plain Sight” around the world, to the media reporting the events after the game, apparently it was  “Not In Plain Sight” since they all seemed to see the same events very differently.

Do as I say, Not as I do …

I am not sure how many people have heard an adult say this to a young child, or maybe you heard it from your parents. How is it that this statement is now what we can expect to hear from our government.

This is not the first government to use this phrase, okay, they don’t actually openly say this to anyone or any organization or even another country, but actions in this case speak these words.

We can sit back as a nation and condemn other countries, current flavor of the month in Israel, what amazes is me is that a a considerable number of those throwing accusations or saying what they think should be done, has never been near Israel, and given a blank map, probably couldn’t even pick out the location of this country. These people still will explain in blogs and comments on how they feel about another country and it’s populations actions in regard to things we see and read in the media. The majority probably believe that the country of Israel would be like visiting Florida, or maybe Southern California, my opinion, you should be made to endure the lifestyle of someone who has lived under the threat of daily terrorist activities before you condemn actions to make life safer.

At home we see this expression becoming the norm for this current administration, that professed to bring change and an open government to Washington, DC when it was elected, well here we are, the only change I see is that in the change machines around the City, if there are any left, maybe even that kind of change has left Washington, DC too.

As they say it’s easier to criticize than it is to implement a strategy that gets no criticism, of course it is, if you got no criticism then you’d be perfect, and lets face it, if you’re a Oakland A”s or Philadelphia Phillies baseball pitcher, you’re allowed to be perfect, but if your a Detroit Tigers pitcher, then there will be someone to stop you. Yes I did digress there a little, the point being there is checks and balances for the world to see in most everything, but politics. The latest round of backdoor dealings out of the White house proves nothing more than power corrupts.

We can find this everywhere, so remember when you find someone doing something they said you shouldn’t do, or criticized someone for doing something, yet they find it a must to do if they benefit from it, it’s nothing more than “Do as I say, Not as I do” …

They’ll tell you what they think you want to hear

The news has been nothing but alive with speculation, finger pointing, accusations, our spin, their spin, his spin and quite possibly down right lies. The one thing that it hasn’t been full of is truths and pure facts that are simple to grasp without them having some kind of tainted bend in the direction on one person or company or even political party.

What specific news item am I talking about, well yes this could apply to any number of them or all of them, from the little snippet about a skater going down the Eiffel Tower to the massive oil leakage from the BP oil well.

Yes I was actually referring to the BP oil leak, we have ABC News taking off to local areas of possible locations that could become problematic, I use the word ‘could’ because as yet it is not problematic in this area, and they interview a select few locals about hardships they may or may not face, see the ‘video here’, during the interview ABC News manages to entice the select few to not only show dislike towards BP, but also cast their take on who is really to blame, getting them to include groups like,  coastguard, US government, BP etc. ABC News also manages to produce a comparison to the hurricane Katrina disaster and thus get the select few to cast their doubt on the existence of the organization FEMA. I say well done ABC News, take a news story involve a select few, turn it into a life and death situation and have them show displeasure at everyone except the news media who can figure out if a political party is corrupt, or if a competitor is faking it, but ask them to get some real truths on whats happening and all they can do is spin it in their direction.

What of the men who lost there lives, their families who are actually going through pain and suffering, ABC News, how about letting that select few air their opinions.

Then we have President Obama, who is at every opportunity trying to show the population that he is doing everything he can, and that some money hungry conglomerate corporation that is from a foreign land, is openly trying to boost their profits at the high risk expense of the American people and that he he will not only make them pay for it, he will find a way for the American people to survive without fossil fuels, thus not needing the likes of BP to take life threatening risks with the American people.

All I say is if it sounds to good to be true it probably is, where will the government recoup the taxes and other income it currently gets from companies like BP, since BP is a foreign conglomerate, I am sure it does hand over more money to the American government than similar American conglomerates.

This needs to be fixed, so lets get it fixed, or maybe we’ll now see if we can drag as many people that we can out there to get int e way and hold things up some more, so we can investigate what went wrong. Yep that’s it we need people in suits that don’t even know what an oil rig looks like, asking a bunch of questions that they don’t understand, and having people with self righteous political agendas formulate the questions so that the people they want to look bad end up being part of the problem.

The CEO of BP must have more important things to do than commenting on facebook, so why does he a make a comment on there that he now finds he has to apologize for, how about feeling lucky you still have a job dude.

In my experience if you really want to know what happened you need people who were actually there with no gains or loses from answering questions, but first you need to find the right questions, like “What the hell went wrong?”, but no we’ll spend billions asking questions that don’t need to asked, so that people in suits can stay in fancy hotels and rack up millions in expenses and the government can then find something else to make a foreign conglomerate pay for, but tell the people we had to use tax payers dollars, so that a bunch of people in suits could stay in fancy hotels and enjoy the comforts of home while they found out that it was age of materials, the constant pounding of undersea currents and happenings, was also a after effect of some damage done to the rig during the hurricanes that have passed through the area. In summary we’re going to blame BP, charge them a huge fine and pocket the money and tell everyone we spent it on something useful, like funding some tree hugging association that nobody ever hears of again.

So you can probably tell from my first post that I rant and rave a lot and get off on tangents. I don’t profess to tell you the news, I don’t profess that I will tell you what you want to hear, I certainly will tell you how I see it, maybe not always clearly, but in my own way.
